E is for Extreme Storms

2 p.m. I'm sitting in the downstairs closet, PoodleHope on my lap and SchnauzerFaith just jumped from my feet to my chest. This is my third round of hiding from the super cell tornadoes tearing up DFW this afternoon (Tuesday, April 3, 2012). I have facetimed with J-Man through most of it, making jokes about "being in the closet" and texted with our gang and hubby dearest. Brother-In-Law keeps sending me weather updates via text since our electricity went out a little bit ago. This is the loudest thunder I have ever heard in my life. I'm scared, fans...scared, scared, scared.

4:07 p.m. Darling Daughter just texted that the school buses are running an hour and a half behind. I am venturing out to go retrieve her from the school.

5:00 p.m. We are home now. I just NOW received an e-mail from the school saying the buses would be late and no one is allowed to walk home. I think they forgot to tell the kiddos we dodged running through the streets and down the side walks. I have called all of the grandparents and hubby dearest to let them know we are safe. Now we just have to sit and watch the devastation on TV.

We send our prayers out to all who have lost so much. We send thanks for our safety and our home. Just like on 9/11/2001, I finally just had to turn the news off because it kept showing all the destruction over and over. Also, some of the false concern from the talking heads was starting to tick off Girl Child and me. Darling Daughter and I have broken hearts for all the folks who have lost their homes.

  4. I'm so glad that you are safe. How awful. I've been following the stories ever since it happened. I feel so bad for all the people who were affected by the storm. Isn't mother nature insane?

  6. Wow...extreme storms scare me and I live in Canada, where tornados are hurricanes are somewhat rare. We did have an intense blizzard this morning, though. Stay safe!
